Now then!

(Ugh, isn’t writing about yourself just the hardest?! Eye roll)

How it all started

When I left university, I wasn’t entirely sure what I wanted to do. I was working in retail and chasing that elusive ‘Friday feeling’. Things properly kicked off in 2013 when I joined corporate life in Liverpool as a secretary, and I thought…brilliant, I’ve got my weekends back!

From there, with a lot of graft, curiosity and the support of some brilliant people, I worked my way up the chain ending up as a Senior Consultant (wit woo!).

My background might be in pensions (probably the driest subject ever – soz pension pals reading this), but my writing definitely isn’t boxed in. I’ve written about all sorts – running, fundraising, award submissions, pitches, neurodiversity, internal communications – the list is pretty big. I just love variety and the challenge that comes with it.

And sure, AI might be eyeing up my job like a seagull coming for my doughnuts on Brighton Pier (true story), but you’ll always get something it can’t offer: a human who listens, thinks, asks questions and actually gets what you’re trying to say.

I’m optimistic, organised and a natural problem‑solver. People have said that I can build strong relationships quickly and bring warmth and humour into my work (yes, I do sometimes rewrite song lyrics to make a point – ahem, Adele and Beyonce). I’m also a proud advocate for diversity and inclusion, and I’ve been recognised for helping create more inclusive environments and meaningful change.

When I’m not typing

Outside of work, my personality is exercise, concerts or travel. I’m a foodie and an unapologetic Titanic fanatic and it would be my Mastermind topic of choice (seriously).

I also love volunteering with my local running club, St Albans Striders. It’s a community that means a lot to me, both personally and professionally.
