Planning for plans A, B, C…

I ran my seventh marathon in October 2025 and it didn’t go to plan, and that’s ok! I still ran my SEVENTH marathon. After all, some people don’t even make it to the start line, let alone the finish. This experience got me thinking about the importance of having a plan B (or even a plan C!) in life. Things don’t always unfold the way we hope, and sometimes the best thing you can do is accept it in the moment.

You have a choice

Let setbacks ruin your day or find a way to turn them into something positive. I decided to party my way around the marathon course, soaking in every moment. I’ve noticed so many people online putting immense pressure on themselves to achieve personal bests every time they run, but that kind of mindset can really take its toll.

Race day experience

Despite not hitting a PB, this was my BEST marathon experience yet. I met some incredible people along the way, and the support from ONE MILLION spectators felt like a giant hug from start to finish. I never felt alone, didn’t even need my music, and the cheering was unlike anything I’ve ever experienced at an event of this scale.

My question to you

How do you handle moments when things don’t go as planned? Do you have a ‘plan B/C/D’ mindset, or do you find it challenging to adapt in the moment?
